Welcome

to the Website of the Scottish Country Dance weekend in Munich. The course will take place at Whitsun 2020 2021 2022, from 29 May to 1 June 3 to 6 June.

IMPORTANT UPDATE 1 April 2021

Dear dancers,

after we have also had to cancel our plans for our dance course in 2021, we are now very happy to share that we have found a new date next year. So please save the date for our Whitsun dance course from 3 – 6 June 2022. Thankfully our staff of our original 2020 course has committed to come to Munich next year, and we will also have the course at the venue we originally planned.

More information about the course will be posted here in due time.

Stay healthy and happy!
All the best,

Your MSA committee

IMPORTANT UPDATE 16 March 2021

Dear dancers,

Although we were hoping that life would normalize by early summer, holding an international dance event this June is out of the question. So to our great regret we are unable to offer our Whitsun course this year either, and will start the preparations anew for 2022. With all that is invested in the organization of a course like this, we are very sad that we are having to cancel it. However, it is equally important to us that everyone can get full enjoyment out of our dance event and feel comfortable and safe.

We will restart the registration process in autumn 2021 and inform you well in time when you can apply for a place on the Whitsun Course 2022. The participant’s fees you have already paid will be refunded right away. Please tell us if your bank details have changed.

Thank you to all of you who have kept faith with us and are not abandoning the hope that we will soon be dancing together again!

Stay healthy and happy!
All the best,

Your MSA committee and chairwoman Friederike Joens

IMPORTANT UPDATE 25 March 2020:

Dear dancers,

As you can well imagine, we have been watching the coronavirus situation in Munich very closely. At the moment, it is not affecting us as badly as some other regions just a few hundred kilometres away, but the forecasts of experts and politicians for the coming weeks indicate that Germany and Munich are far from having averted this crisis.

Our committee has discussed the implications for our dance course which was to take place over the Whitsun weekend. Although there is still a while to go, and nobody really knows what the situation will look like by the end of May, the course requires lots of organisational and financial undertakings right now, and you and all the other participants will need to make travel arrangements at some point. We have received lots of applications for the course from abroad, and from today’s perspective it’s even less clear whether those people would be able to come to Munich.

For these reasons, to our enormous regret we have decided to cancel the 2020 Whitsun course. We would have loved to welcome to you to another fantastic dancing weekend, but under the current circumstances we feel that even if officialdom allowed us to host the event, it wouldn’t be the same.

We will of course refund the fees you have already paid. We are also considering whether it will be possible to have a similar dancing weekend at a later stage this, or next year.

Please allow a couple of weeks for us to sort out the refunding procedure, and we will be back with information again soon.

I wish you, on behalf of the whole Munich committee and dancing group, all the best, stay healthy and we hope to see you soon,

Matthias Rank
Chairman, Munich Scottish Association e.V.

We have found a great venue, the Salesianum, in the heart of Munich. And we will have fantastic staff: Linda Henderson will teach the course. Luke and Adam Brady, and Ian Robertson will provide the music for the course and the evening dances. The Salesianum also offers simple (en suite) rooms, and we have arranged a hotel option as well.

The course fees are 230 euros (reduced rate for MSA members/students 215 euros). This year it gives us great pleasure to offer a few scholarships for students or people whose financial means are otherwise restricted.

Application will start on 13 October 2019 at noon CET.
